WILSON, N.C. - The Barton women's volleyball team (1-6, 1-2) fell in three sets to King (Tenn.) (4-2, 1-1), 3-0, Friday evening in a Conference Carolinas match at Wilson Gymnasium. The Tornado won by scores of 25-13, 25-22 and 25-16.
King was led by Brittney Ramsey (Afton, Tenn.) with eight kills while the Tornados, as a team, showed balance with four players with five or more kills on the day. Meanwhile, Katie Harless (Abingdon, Va.) added a double-double – 14 assists and 10 digs – in the victory for the visitors.
Barton was led by freshman right side hitter
Caroline Schoonover (Lutz, Fla.) with seven kills and junior setter
Sarah Kirk (Pearland, Texas) dished out 21 assists but the Bulldogs were hurt by 10 service errors, 10 reception errors and a 0.010 hitting percentage in suffering their second straight setback.
Barton turns right around to host Lees-McRae in a league contest on Saturday afternoon beginning at 1:00 p.m., while King (Tenn.) takes on Mount Olive in conference in action Saturday at 1:00 p.m., as well in Mount Olive, N.C.
