WILSON, N.C. – Barton (13-15, 6-6) and Lees-McRae (7-23, 4-10) split a Conference Carolinas doubleheader on Sunday at Jeffries Field. The Bulldogs shut out the Bobcats in the first contest, 2-0, while the visitors salvaged the split with a 10-5 triumph in the second game.
Game One – Barton 2, Lees-McRae 0

Rilee Jones (Virginia Beach, Va.) (10-4) threw a one-hitter and pitched her second straight shutout while sophomore first baseman
Sloane Correa (Greenville, N.C.) hit the game-winning RBI single in the first inning to lead the Bulldogs to the win.

Savannah Branch (Shallotte, N.C.) also drove in a run for the home team. Lees-McRae's Charlsy Traylor (Pomaria, S.C.) fell to 2-11 after taking the loss.
Game Two – Lees-McRae 10, Barton 5
The Bobcats broke the contest open with a six-run second inning capped off by a two-run double from Addyson Ikard (Maiden, N.C.). Traylor capped off the scoring with a two-run home run in the final frame to help Lees-McRae salvage the split.
For Barton, sophomore third baseman
Lindsey Massengill (Pine Level, N.C.) hit a home run and finished with three hits and two RBI in the losing effort. Barton sophomore
Shelby Talley (Oxford, N.C.) (0-1) was tagged with the loss. Lees-McRae's Raygan Rensing (Wake Forest, N.C.) improved to 5-10 after being credited with the victory.
Barton hosts Bluefield State on Thursday, April 1, in a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m., while Lees-McRae returns home to host Catawba on Thursday in a doubleheader at 1:00 p.m., as well.
