BRISTOL, TENN. – The Barton men's volleyball team (3-2, 2-1) saw its three-match winning streak come to an end with a 3-0 setback to King (Tenn.) (4-3, 1-1) Saturday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas match at the Student Center Complex.
The Tornado won by scores of 25-22, 27-25 and 25-22 and snapped the Bulldogs' 14-game winning streak within league regular season play dating back to two years.
King, which snapped a two-match losing streak as well, was led by Joshua Kim (Garden Grove, Calif.) and Diego Marcano (San Juan, PUERTO RICO) with 11 kills while Kim added 18 digs for the double-double in the victory.
Barton was paced by junior outside hitter
Adrian Iglesias (Guaynabo, PUERTO RICO) and sophomore outside hitter
Nathan Chaparro (Glendale, Ariz.) with 16 and 12 kills, respectively, in the losing effort. The Bulldogs' senior libero
Edwin Montaruli (Sugar Land, Texas) totaled a match-high 19 digs as well.
Barton looks to bounce back on Wednesday when the Bulldogs host Queens at Wilson Gymnasium beginning at 6:00 p.m. Meanwhile, King (Tenn.) hosts Limestone Wednesday beginning at 7:00 p.m.
