WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's basketball team (8-1, 4-1), ranked No. 25 in NCAA Division II, rolled to an 80-55 win over Lees-McRae (1-8, 1-6) Saturday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas game at Wilson Gymnasium.
Sophomore guard
Lauren Walker (Charlotte, N.C.) finished with a game-high 18 points and was one of four players to score in double figures for the Bulldogs, who hit eight three-pointers in the contest and forced the Bobcats into 27 turnovers in the win.
Walker hit four of those treys while Barton raced to a 41-22 lead at intermission and never looked back. The Bulldogs also scored 28 points in the third quarter and led by as many as 36 points – 70-34 with 9:11 left in the contest – on their way to their second straight triumph.

Akira Wiggins (Knightdale, N.C.) added 17 points and senior center
Shanika Peterkin (Virginia Beach, Va.) chipped in with 14 points for the home team. Lees-McRae was led by Destiny Johnson (Iron Station, N.C.) with 13 points but the Bobcats were doomed by turnovers on their way to their second straight setback.
Barton hits the road to take on Southern Wesleyan on Monday beginning at Noon in Central, S.C., in a league contest while Lees-McRae faces Southern Wesleyan on the road as well on Tuesday, January 4, at 5:00 p.m.
