CENTRAL, S.C. – The Barton College women's volleyball team (9-13, 6-10) swept Southern Wesleyan (1-20, 0-17), 3-0, in a Conference Carolinas match Saturday afternoon at Tysinger Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs won over the Warriors by scores of 25-10, 25-20 and 25-22 on their way to their second straight victory.
Barton was led by junior outside hitter
Allison Gambill (Taylorsville, N.C.) and freshman middle blocker
Lily Haaga (Herriman, Utah) with nine kills each while senior setter
Sarah Kirk (Pearland, Texas) tallied her 13th double-double on the year – 24 assists and 16 digs – as the Bulldogs limited the Warriors to a -0.009 hitting percentage in the win.
Southern Wesleyan's Amber Bass (Chester, S.C.) finished with a match-high 10 kills but the Warriors continue to search for their first league victory of the year.
Barton also totaled nine blocks as a team in handing Southern Wesleyan its 18th straight loss.
Barton wraps up the regular season portion of its schedule on Wednesday when the Bulldogs travel to Mount Olive, N.C., to take on rival Mount Olive beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Southern Wesleyan visits Emmanuel (Ga.) on Wednesday for a league match at 7:00 p.m.
