FLORENCE, S.C. – The Barton women's soccer team (7-5-3, 5-3-3) survived a late goal and downed Francis Marion (2-14, 2-9), 2-1, in a Conference Carolinas match Wednesday evening at Hartzler Field.

Kassie Krul (Rockport, Maine) and senior defender
Hailey Russell (Jacksonville, N.C.) both scored for the visitors and the Bulldogs remained unbeaten in their last four matches.
Krul opened the scoring at the 14:33 mark of the first half with a goal inside near post off a one-touch pass from senior midfielder
Olivia Bronson (Gaithersburg, Md.), who was credited with the assist.
Russell made it a 2-0 advantage with her team-leading fifth goal of the season in the 56th minute – sophomore midfielder
Lexis Goldberg (Sanford, N.C.) notched the assist – before Francis Marion cut
the margin in half with just over three minutes left.
Ambrea Hills (Ladson, S.C.) scored her first goal of the year for the Patriots, who suffered their ninth straight loss. In goal, Barton junior
Rachel Cox (Wilson, N.C.) picked up the victory while Makayla Willets (Mastic, N.Y.) suffered the setback for Francis Marion despite six saves. Barton also held a 13-6 advantage in shots taken in the win.
Barton returns home to face Converse on Senior Day in a Conference Carolinas match on Saturday beginning at 11:00 a.m., while Francis Marion travels to Due West, S.C., to take on Erskine on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
