WILSON, N.C. – The Barton College women's basketball team (3-1, 3-1) opened the home portion of its abbreviated 2020-21 schedule with a rousing, 88-60 victory over Lees-McRae (3-1, 3-1) Friday evening in a Conference Carolinas contest at Wilson Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs were led by junior forward
Jami Tham-Morrobel (Arlington, Va.) with a double-double – 18 points and 11 rebounds – while junior guard
Akira Wiggins (Knightdale, N.C.) added 14 points as Barton raced to a 29-9 lead after the first quarter and never looked back.

Lauren Walker (Charlotte, N.C.) added 11 points as well for the Bulldogs, who led by as many as 37 points – 78-41 with just under seven minutes left in the contest – and knocked Lees-McRae from the ranks of the unbeaten.
Lees-McRae's Destiny Johnson (Iron Station, N.C.) finished with 18 points to lead the visitors but the Bobcats shot just 38 percent (26-of-68) from the field and turned the ball over 21 times. Senior center All-American
Shanika Peterkin (Virginia Beach, Va.) added nine points and is now tied for 10th all-time in scoring for the Bulldogs with 1,102 points.
The two teams will play again on Saturday at Wilson Gymnasium beginning at 2:00 p.m.
