Box Score MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Barton men's basketball team (11-13, 9-8) continued to right the ship by downing Chowan (8-14, 5-11), 72-68, Tuesday night in a Conference Carolinas game at the Helms Center.
Barton junior forward Isaiah Reddish (Durham, N.C.) had another monster double-double – 32 points and 12 rebounds – while senior guard Michael Boykin (Clinton, N.C.) added 20 points as the Bulldogs swept the season series from the Hawks. Boykins has 1,540 career points, three away from moving into third on Barton's all-time scoring list for the NCAA Division II era.
Chowan was led by Khalil Ridges (Sanford, N.C.) with 17 points but the Hawks suffered their fifth straight loss. The Bulldogs led by a 35-29 score at halftime and maintained their advantage the rest of the way.
Once again, the Bulldogs won at the free throw line as the visitors connected on 19-of-23 attempts including a 10-of-12 performance from Boykin. Senior guard Jeff Gordon (Woodbridge, Va.) also reached double figures for Barton, totaling 10 points on the night.
In the next round of Conference Carolinas games on Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m., Barton travels to Tigerville, S.C., to take on North Greenville while Chowan faces King in Bristol, Tenn.
