Barton women's volleyball sees winning streak end with setback to North Greenville, 3-1

WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's volleyball team (4-4, 1-1) fell to North Greenville (7-7, 2-0), 3-1, in a Conference Carolinas match Saturday afternoon at James B. Hunt High School.

The Crusaders beat the Bulldogs by scores of 25-17, 25-21, 23-25 and 25-22 and snapped Barton's three-match winning streak.

North Greenville was led by Emma Pepper (Easley, S.C.) with 14 kills while Katie McManaway (Mount Vernon, Ohio) added 13 kills and the Crusaders defeated its second straight league opponent on the road.  North Greenville also totaled 10 blocks in the contest.

Barton was led by junior outside hitter Kaytlin Elkins (Hope Mills, N.C.) with a match-high 20 kills and junior outside hitter Allison Gambill (Hickory, N.C.) tallied her third straight double-double – 12 kills and 14 digs – but it wasn't enough.  Barton sophomore setter Sarah Kirk (Pearland, Texas) added six kills, 21 assists and seven digs but the Bulldogs were hurt by 12 service errors.

Barton remains at James B. Hunt High School on Friday when the Bulldogs take on Limestone in a league match at 7:00 p.m., while North Greenville hosts Lees-McRae on Tuesday beginning at 7:00 p.m.
