Box Score WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's basketball team (4-6, 2-1) nearly pulled off an improbable comeback but ultimately fell short to Emmanuel (Ga.) (5-5, 2-0), 91-85, Thursday evening in a Conference Carolinas game at Wilson Gymnasium.
The Lions' Michael Wright (Summerville, S.C.) and Tyonn Stuckey (Columbia, S.C.) both scored 17 points as Emmanuel led by as many as 28 points – 72-44 with 13:03 remaining in the game – and held off a furious rally by the Bulldogs in claiming their third straight win.
Barton junior forward Isaiah Reddish (Durham, N.C.) scored a season-high 33 points and pulled down 16 rebounds in the losing effort. Reddish scored 21 points after the break in spearheading the Bulldogs' comeback as Barton cut the lead to four points on two occasions – 87-83 and 89-85 – with under 30 seconds left but fell just short.
Emmanuel hit 15 three-pointers on the night including four by both Wright and Stuckey and shot 56 percent (31-of-66) in the first half in building a 60-36 advantage going into intermission. Barton senior forward Isaiah Buck-Lowman (Springfield, Va.) added 19 points and is just three points away from hitting the 1,000-point mark for his collegiate career.
Barton remains at home to take on King (Tenn.) in a league contest Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m., while Emmanuel visits Mount Olive for a Saturday night affair beginning at 7:30 p.m., in Mount Olive, N.C.
