Box Score

BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Barton men's soccer team (12-4-1, 7-3) closed out the Conference Carolinas regular season portion of its schedule with a 3-0 shutout victory over Lees-McRae (3-9-2, 3-5-1) Saturday afternoon at Tate Field.

Barton freshman forward Omar Aboutaleb (Asheboro, N.C.) scored twice and now has a team-leading nine goals on the year as the Bulldogs clinched a home match in the quarterfinal round of the 2019 league tournament championship next Saturday, November 9.

Aboutaleb opened the scoring at the 14:55 mark of the contest and the Bulldogs held a 1-0 advantage all the way until the 80th minute before sophomore midfielder Luis Hernandez Velasco (Guadarrama, SPAIN) found the back of the net.  Aboutaleb added a goal with just under three minutes left in the contest for the Bulldogs, who bounced back from a double overtime loss on Saturday.

In goal, Barton senior Francisco Noguera (Santiago, CHILE) notched his third shutout of the year to go along with four saves while Anton Sundstrom (Ostersund, SWEDEN) made three stops but suffered the loss for the Bobcats.

Barton hosts Piedmont International on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m., in its regular season finale while Lees-McRae hosts Belmont Abbey on Monday beginning at 6:00 p.m.
