Barton women's soccer suffers road setback to Southern Wesleyan, 3-1

CENTRAL, S.C. – The Barton women's soccer team (7-3-1, 5-2) saw its five-match winning streak come to an end with a 3-1 loss to Southern Wesleyan (4-4-2, 2-3-1) Saturday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas match at Childs Field.

The Warriors' Ashley Romanowski (St. Clair Shores, Mich.) scored twice including the match-winner at the 53:50 mark of the second half to break a one-all tie as Southern Wesleyan was able to beat Barton despite the Bulldogs' sizable advantage (42-15) in shots taken.

Barton freshman midfielder Kassie Krul (Rockport, Maine) opened the scoring with her third goal of the year at the 22:14 mark of the first half before Makala Latsch (Anderson, S.C.) tied the contest just five minutes after halftime.  From there, Romanowski took over and increased her goal total on the year to 12.

Southern Wesleyan's goalkeeper, Jen Golio (Plainview, N.Y.), came up big with 21 saves while Barton sophomore Kristin Davis (Willow Springs, N.C.) suffered the loss despite six stops in goal

Barton looks to return to its winning ways on Wednesday when the Bulldogs host Mount Olive at the Electric Supply Company Field beginning at 5:00 p.m., while Southern Wesleyan takes on Shaw in Raleigh, N.C., on Wednesday beginning at 2:00 p.m.
