Barton men's basketball explodes in the second half in rolling Coker, 104-69

Box Score

WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's basketball team (9-3) scored the first 22 points of the second half to turn a close contest into a rout in a 104-69 victory over Coker (2-7) Monday night at Wilson Gymnasium.

Five players scored in double figures for the Bulldogs – led by sophomore guard Jake Kakar (Boston, Mass.) with 19 points and four treys – as Barton defeated Coker for the second time this year.  Holding a 42-41 advantage over the Cobras at the break, the Bulldogs exploded out the gates by putting together a 22-0 run over the first five-plus minutes of the second half.

Sophomore forwards Blake Burdack (Melbourne, AUSTRALIA) and Isaiah Reddish (Durham, N.C.) each added double-doubles for the Bulldogs, who scored 62 points after the break and reached a season-high in points.  Burdack scored 15 points and added 12 rebounds while Reddish came off the bench to tally 15 points and 13 boards.

Coker's Khalil Harris (Vance, S.C.) finished with a team-high 19 points but the Cobras suffered their third straight setback.  Barton held a decisive edge on the boards – 51-33 – and shot 51 percent from the field (38-of-74) in the win.

The Bulldogs also connected on 11 treys and led by as many as 38 points as Barton won its second straight game.

Barton remains at home to take on Tusculum on Wednesday beginning at 5:30 p.m., while Coker hosts nationally-ranked Queens in a South Atlantic Conference game Wednesday at 8:00 p.m.
