FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The Barton men's soccer team (6-2-1, 3-1-1) remained in contention for a league title after tying first-place Emmanuel (Ga.) (6-4-1, 4-1-1), 1-1, Saturday afternoon on the road after two overtimes at the Stephens Athletic Complex in a Conference Carolinas match.

Both goals were scored two minutes after intermission and nine seconds apart.

The Lions' Jeremy Gwaltney (Marietta, Ga.) opened the scoring with his first goal of the year at the 46:50 mark of the second half before Barton's Ruben Mancio, a sophomore forward from Cadiz, SPAIN, tied the contest just nine seconds later.  The unassisted goal was Mancio's team-leading eighth of the season for the Bulldogs.

Both goalkeepers – Barton junior Francisco Noguera (Santiago, CHILE) and Emmanuel's Andy Dunnett (Edinburg, SCOTLAND) – allowed just one goal in 110 minutes of action.  Noguera stopped seven shots while Dunnett made five saves.  The Lions, winners of three straight matches coming into the contest, held a 26-10 advantage in shots taken.

Barton returns home to take on Chowan in a Conference Carolinas match on Wednesday beginning at 7:00 p.m.   Emmanuel (Ga.), meanwhile, travels to Gaffney, S.C., to take on Limestone on Saturday in a league contest starting at 2:00 p.m.
