WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's soccer team (6-2) saw its four-match winning streak come to an end with a tight, 2-1 setback to Francis Marion (4-4) Wednesday night at the Bulldogs Athletic Complex.

The Patriots, winners of three straight matches, rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit to take the win.  Francis Marion's Rory Monks (Kilkenny, IRELAND) and Jonas Dovland (Oslo, NORWAY) found the back of the net after intermission.  Dovland's match-winner came with just 6:12 remaining in the contest.

Barton opened the scoring just 6:51 into the match thanks to senior Tolly Beatson's fifth goal of the year.  Beatson, a senior from Gillingham, ENGLAND, received a give-and-go from sophomore midfielder Pol Monells (Barcelona, SPAIN).  Monells now has a team-leading six assists on the season.

In goal, Francis Marion's Kristoffer Gregenaes (Gothenburg, SWEDEN) earned the win after making three stops while Barton junior Francisco Noguera (Santiago, CHILE) suffered the loss despite totaling seven saves.

Francis Marion held a 32-9 advantage in shots taken while Barton came into the contest ranked ninth in the latest United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Southeast Regional poll.

Barton returns to Conference Carolinas play on Saturday when the Bulldogs travel to Franklin Springs, Ga., to take on Emmanuel on Saturday beginning at 4:00 p.m.  Francis Marion steps back in the Peach Belt Conference to face North Georgia at home on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
