WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's soccer team (7-3-1, 4-2-1) was shut out at home, 3-0, to Chowan (8-2-1, 6-2) Monday evening in a Conference Carolinas showdown at the Bulldogs Athletic Complex. With the victory, the Hawks took over sole possession of first place in the league standings.
The Hawks' Harry Garstang (Preston, ENGLAND) tallied a goal and an assist as Chowan increased its winning streak to four matches. Garstang assisted on the first goal of the match just 6:20 into the contest after Trevin Myers (Lehigh Acres, Fla.) found the back of the net.
Garstang and Harry Ardron (Blackpool, ENGLAND) both scored their team-leading fifth goals of the year for the Hawks while Elliot Chadderton (Oldham, ENGLAND) earned the shutout victory in goal after making four saves.
Barton junior goalkeeper Francisco Noguera, a native of Santiago, CHILE, suffered the loss despite stopping three shots. The Bulldogs lost despite a 16-16 tie in shots taken in the contest as well.
Barton next travels to Bermuda Run, N.C., to take on Piedmont International on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. Chowan hosts No. 10 Lander on Wednesday beginning at 4:00 p.m.
