WILSON, N.C. – Barton College scored a pair of goals in the game's first 17 minutes, but Coker College stormed back to down the Bulldogs, 3-2, in overtime Tuesday night at the Barton Outdoor Athletics Complex.

Alvaro Urena scored on a shot from just inside the box off a crossing pass from Aladdin Elfares a minute and a half into the extra frame to seal the comeback for the Cobras (4-3-1). The goal, scored on the first shot attempt by either team in overtime, was the second of the night and fifth of the year for the Coker junior.

Barton (2-5-1) took the lead in the match just 7:53 into play when sophomore Tolly Beatson ripped a free kick from just outside the box inside the right post for his third goal of the year. Less than 10 minutes later, senior Austin Tausch scored on a header from the left post after a corner kick resulted in a loose ball.

The Bulldogs had a golden opportunity to add a third goal five minutes before the half when Coker keeper Justin Walker knocked down Beatson in the box. However, Walker made a diving stop to his right to turn away the penalty kick from Beatson, and a follow-up attempt by Craig Edwards sailed wide left.

BC held the Cobras without a shot on goal until the 43rd minute, and appeared ready to take a comfortable lead into intermission. However, as the clock was winding down to halftime, Jaedon Williamson found Elfares on the left wing, and the sophomore ripped a shot inside the right post with just two seconds left in the period.

Although Barton still led 2-1 at the break, Coker clearly took momentum from the late goal and continued to press early in the second half. BC keeper Jens Madsen Hordvik turned away a shot by Williamson in the 59th minute, but the Cobras struck with the equalizer in the 72nd minute on a curling free kick by Urena from the left wing into the left side of the net.

Walker, making his first start of the year for the Cobras, recorded six saves in the match, the last one in the 78th minute on an attempt by Beatson. Hordvik posted two saves in the loss for BC.

The Bulldogs enjoyed a 17-11 edge in shots in the contest, but also drew three more fouls than the Cobras (12-9).

Barton returns to Conference Carolinas play on Saturday with a road match at nationally-ranked No. 14 Limestone College. The Saints are 4-0 in league play and 7-0 overall.
