WILSON, N.C. – The Barton College men's soccer team opened up Conference Carolinas play with a 1-1 tie in double overtime against visiting North Greenville University on Saturday afternoon at the Barton Outdoor Athletic Complex.
Junior Alex Blake put the Bulldogs on the board first, scoring his first goal of the season in the 16th minute of an assist from sophomore defender Rafael Ribiero. Ribiero was able to feed the ball to Blake through the NGU defense as the shot was finished off the post from the left wing.

Barton was able to pressure the North Greenville defense for the entirety of the first overtime period, firing four shots at the net. However, Crusader keeper Mateo Barzola turned BC away three times to force and second overtime period.
Neither side was able to gain a sizeable advantage in the final 10 minutes, recording two shots each but having no luck with netting a game winner. Barton keeper Jens Madsen Hordvik totaled six saves while playing all 110 minutes of the contest.
