WILSON, N.C. – Senior outside hitter Mariana Kedzia led all players with a season-high 22 kills as the Barton women's volleyball team won its 11th consecutive match with a 3-1 (25-22, 18-25, 25-17, 25-21) over King University in Wilson Gymnasium.

Kedzia matched her season-high with a .327 hitting percentage to go along with 11 digs, while sophomore Hayley Marshburn followed with 13 kills of her own and six total blocks.

Redshirt-sophomore Riley Bane led the team with 19 digs on defense and a career-high six service aces, while sophomore Angelica Acevedo finished with 38 assists and 16 digs. Senior Laura Peed chipped in 13 digs of her own and junior Courtney Wiseman had six total blocks at the net.

Barton improved its overall record to 16-7 with an 11-1 mark in Conference Carolinas play to remain atop the standings, while King fell to 10-13 overall and 9-3 in the league.

The Lady Bulldogs opened the match with a 7-2 run, extending its lead to a 21-13 advantage following a Bane service ace. King was able to tally five unanswered points to close the deficit, but a service error ended the set in Barton's favor.

In the second set, King turned the tables and began with an 8-2 run, including three service aces from libero Amy Serowski. After Barton fought back to get within three points of the Tornado lead, King ended the set with a 10-6 run to tie the match at one-set apiece.

Barton and King traded points in the early going of the third set, tying the score six separate times with the Lady Bulldogs breaking through with a 4-0 run to get out to a 10-6 lead. An 11-4 run moved BC's lead to 21-10 as a kill from sophomore Allie Cullens ended the set to give her team a 2-1 lead.

Despite the Tornado claiming an early 9-6 lead, the Lady Bulldogs were able to rebound and seal the match win after scoring the final four points of the match.

The Royal Blue and White will host Lees-McRae tomorrow at Noon inside Wilson Gym in the third game of a four-game homestand.
