WILSON, N.C. – The Warriors of Southern Wesleyan University scored two first half goals en route to a 3-1 victory over the Barton College men's soccer team in Sunday's Conference Carolinas matchup.

Barton (1-7, 0-4) was able to get on the scoreboard early in the game on a goal from senior Jovan Gracia. Gracia scored his first goal of the season in the 5th minute of play after finishing a corner kick from freshman Javier Alcarria. The assist was Alcarria's first of the season.

The Warriors (4-3-1, 1-2-1) wasted no time evening the score at 1-1 on a goal from Michel Herszenhout on an assist from Sebastian Castro in the 13th minute. Castro recorded his second assist of the match in the 20th minute after Juan Agudelo gave Southern Wesleyan a 2-1 lead with his first goal of the year.

Barton was able to total three shots in the final 23 minutes of the first half but Southern Wesleyan was able to turn them away and hold on for a one-goal lead at intermission.

The second half began as a back-and-forth affair before Southern Wesleyan extended its lead to 3-1 on Herszenhout's second goal of the game in the 66th minute. Barton and SWU each totaled eight shots in the contest with the Warriors converting all three shot attempts on goal.

The Bulldogs will look to end their six-game losing streak on Wednesday, Sept. 30 when they travel to Hartsville, S.C. for a 7 p.m. matchup with non-conference opponent Coker College.
