FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – An eight-game winning streak for the Barton College women's volleyball team came to an end with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-22) loss to Emmanuel College on Friday night.
Barton fell to 13-9 overall and 8-4 in Conference Carolinas play, while the Lions improved to 13-13 overall and 4-10 in league play with the win on their home floor.
The Bulldogs had just 27 kills on 25 assists in comparison to 48 kills and 46 assists by Emmanuel as the Lions hit .220 as a team and held BC to a .111 hitting percentage.
Junior Mariana Kedzia led Barton with eight kills and nine digs, while freshman Hayley Marshburn chipped in seven kills and 10 digs of her own. Fellow freshman Alexandra Cullens was impressive in the middle as she finished with six kills on a .308 hitting percentage and six total blocks to lead all players.
Barton travels to league-leading Erskine College tomorrow for a 2 p.m. match in Due West, S.C.
