Box Score BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Bobcats of Lees-McRae College handed the Barton College men's soccer team its 10th loss of the season with a 2-0 victory on their home field on Monday afternoon.
In a game rescheduled due to inclement weather on Oct. 10, Lees-McRae (7-6, 4-3) totaled 13 shots in the game, including seven on goal, compared to just four shots for Barton (1-10-1, 0-7-1) who had two shots on goal.
The Bobcats got on the scoreboard early in the 16th minute when Maurice Kleinert put a header past Barton keeper Jens Madsen Hordvik for his third goal of the season. Lees-McRae carried the 1-0 lead into the half as BC was only able to fire two shots in the opening 45 minutes.
A goal from Nathan Watt extended the Lees-McRae lead to a 2-0 advantage in the 84th minute after beating Hordvik in a one-on-one situation as the Bobcats secured their fifth shutout of the year. Hordvik recorded five saves in the losing effort.
Barton returns to the pitch on Wednesday, Oct. 21 when the Bulldogs host UNC-Pembroke at 7 p.m. in a non-conference tilt.
