Neff attended college at Abilene Christian and Ohio Northern University, graduating from Abilene Christian in 1980. While at Ohio Northern, Neff, who played catcher, helped the team to the Ohio State (university and college) Championship. She was als oa basketball player and track-and-field athlete at Abilene Christian and was a Dean's List student.
Neff attended graduate school at the University of Dayton, where she earned a Master's in Physical Education. She began her fastpitch coaching career at the University of Findlay in Ohio, where she directed a dominant Oilers program to eight conference championships, one NAIA District 22 Championship (1987) and three runner-up district finishes. She coached two All-Americans and three Conference/District Players of the Year.
Neff looks for solid students first who also have great athletic ability. She also has an affinity for signing student-athletes who play and work hard every day. Character counts in her book....doing the right things when other people aren't looking is very important. She wants players who are proud to wear the Barton College uniform. Winning championships is important, but not as important as the maturation of each individual student-athlete during her college journey.
