Thomas Goines has served as head coach of the Barton women's soccer program since March of 2015.
The Lady Bulldogs have reached the Conference Carolinas Tournament in each of his three seasons at the helm. Barton qualified for the 2016 and 2017 tourneys after placing fifth in the regular-season standings, the program's highest finish in back-to-back seasons since 2007 and 2008.
Goines has compiled an overall record of 20-26-8 (.444) in his three seasons at Barton, including a 12-14-8 (.471) conference mark.
During his BC tenure, Goines has produced seven all-conference selections, one all-state selection, one conference freshman of the year and 11 academic all-conference honorees.
Goines joined the Barton staff after serving for four seasons as head coach of the women’s soccer program at Concordia University Chicago, where he led the Cougars to a winning record every season while compiling an overall mark of 43-23-6.
In 2013, Goines directed CUC to the program's best season in school history (12-3-4) and its first berth in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference post-season tournament. His teams also excelled in the classroom, posting a collective grade point average of 3.3 and earning nearly 40 academic all-conference awards during his tenure.
Goines played one season of soccer at NCAA Division I Indiana University-Purdue University of Fort Wayne (IPFW) before transferring to Division III Concordia University Wisconsin, where he was a three-time all-conference selection and all-region honoree.
His coaching experience began at West Bend East (Wis.) High School while he was still attending CUW, and continued to the Lutheran High School of Greater New Orleans (2007-09) and Bloomington (Ind.) High School North (2009-11) before he joined the staff at CUC. While at Bloomington, Goines produced a record of 26-5-6, and his 2010 team was crowned conference, regional and sectional champions.
While in New Orleans, Goines served as a coach on the 2009 Louisiana Olympic Development Program (ODP) team. He holds an Advanced National Diploma and a Regional Goalkeeper Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) as well as a National D License from the United States Soccer Federation (USSF).
In addition to his undergraduate degree, Goines went on to complete a master’s degree in athletic administration from Concordia University Irvine in 2012.
