Renato Freitas joined the Barton College women's soccer programas a volunteer assistant coach in the summer of 2012. Freitasalso serves as a math teacher at Smithfield-Selma HighSchool. 

Freitas brings an extensive coaching background to the LadyBulldogs having coached men's and women's soccer at bothSmithfield-Selma High School and the Neuse Charter School. He heldthe titles Athletic Director and Physical Education Teacher at theNeuse Charter School for three years. Freitas has also coached andassisted for numerous other clubs, associations andschools. 

Freitas holds a NSCAA Advance National Diploma, a NSCAA NationalGoalkeeping Diploma, and is a Union of Professional Scocer CoachesFootball Brazilian Confederation member.

Freitas played collegiate soccer at Southeast Region foeCarson-Newman College. Freitas helped the Eagles secure threeconsecutive South Atlantic Conference Championships from 2003-05that included a pair of trips to the NCAA Elite Eight.

Freitas earned a Bachelor of Science degree in BusinessAdministration from Carson-Newman in 2005 and later obtained aMaster's in Education - Physical Education Pedagogy from EastCarolina University in 2011.
