Charlie ‘Chuck’ Henry returned to his alma mater inthe summer of 2012 and will be entering his first season as anassistant coach for the Barton College men's basketball team in2012-13.
Henry came to Barton College after one year at Morris College inSumter, S.C.
Henry received his bachelor’s degree in 2005 in BusinessAdministration. He played for Coach Ron Lievense for threeseasons. He won 58 games in his three seasons in the Bulldoguniform. He was a member of the 2002-03 team that was the firstteam in Barton history (NCAA era) to win a tournament game.However, after that season Henry considered transferring onceagain. He credits then teammate, Tim Black, and Tony Tilley withhelping motivate him to remain a Bulldog. Henry went on to beawarded Most Improved Player in each of the next two seasons.
After graduation, Henry spent two seasons playing professionalbasketball in Germany. In his first year playing, Henry averaged 33points per game and over 16 rebounds per game, while posting fourtriple-doubles and having three 50-point games. Additionally, Henrycoached a youth team for his club and he organized his own skillimprovement camps. He currently still mentors several youthplayers in Germany.
Most recently, Henry has spent some time coaching and playing invarious leagues and tournaments in the Washington, D.C. area. Hehas also been a coach for Team Turner Hoyas, an AAU team in the DCarea.
Currently, Henry is working on his master’s degree inSports Leadership with Duquesne University. His career goalsinclude one day being a head coach and an athletic director furtherdown the line.
