Sterling Jones is beginning his second season as an Assistant Coach for the Barton College Men's and Women's Cross Country and Track and Field Teams in 2020-21.

Jones comes to Barton after serving as an Assistant Coach for the Lenoir-Rhyne University Track and Field Teams in 2018-19.  Jones helped the women's squad win its first-ever South Atlantic Conference Championship that spring.

Jones graduated with both his bachelor's and master's degrees from Lenoir-Rhyne in exercisce science.  Jones was also a four-year letterwinner on the Bears' squad (2014-17) who was primarily a hurdler and holds certification for USA Track and Field Level 1 and USTFCCCA Spring, Hurdle and Relay Event Specialist and Strength and Conditioning.  Jones was also a member of the Dean's List from Lenoir-Rhyne and served as a strength and conditioning intern with the University.  Jones is a native of Winston-Salem, N.C.
