Larry Russell is beginning his first season as an Assistant Coach for the Barton College men's and women's track and field teams in 2022-23. Russell will work primarily with the jumpers and several other field events.
Russell, a native of Sicklerville, N.J., graduated from Barton in 2020 with a bachelor's degree in criminology and criminal justice. Russel has served as intern for the Wilson County Substance Abuse Coalition prior to returning to Barton.
Russell was one of the most-decorated student-athletes in school history and one of the best track and field athletes of all time at Barton. Russell was a two-time Conference Carolinas and USTFCCCA NCAA D-II Southeast Region's Indoor Athlete of the Year (2018-19) and a two-time Barton College Men's Athlete of the Year.
Russell was a five-time NCAA Division II All-American - three in indoor (high jump in 2017 and long jump in 2018 and 2019), two in outdoor (men's long jump in 2017 and 2018) - and an 11-time Conference Carolinas Champion when combining indoor and outdoor accolades.
