WILSON, N.C. – The Barton softball team (19-23, 8-14) swept a pair of 1-0 contests over rival Mount Olive (21-21, 11-11) in a Conference Carolinas doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at Jeffries Field.
Game One – Barton 1, Mount Olive 0

Emily Bobo (Mount Ephraim, N.J.) (9-10) threw a two-hit shutout while striking out five batters while senior first baseman
Savannah Olson (La Plata, Md.) drove in the lone run with an RBI single in the first inning.
The shutout was Bobo's second straight and third on the season while Mount Olive's Brianna Verne (Goldsboro, N.C.) (0-2) suffered the loss despite allowing just one run in going the distance.
Game Two – Barton 1, Mount Olive 0
Barton senior second
Madison Mercer (Wilson, N.C.) walked off the game with an RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning – scoring senior outfielder
Makenzie Cyzick (Dayton, Va.) – as the Bulldogs completed the doubleheader sweep.
Barton freshman
Haley Inman (Stokesdale, N.C.) (8-10) threw a six-hit shutout to go along with four strikeouts while Mount Olive's Linda Hodge (Virginia Beach, Va.) (1-3) suffered the loss in relief.
Barton remains at home to take on Belmont Abbey in a league doubleheader on Friday afternoon beginning at 1:00 p.m., while Mount Olive hosts Augusta in a doubleheader on Wednesday starting at 1:00 p.m.
