MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Barton softball team (14-20, 5-11) suffered a doubleheader setback to Chowan (18-15, 8-8), 5-2 and 5-2, in Conference Carolinas action Wednesday afternoon at Hawks Field.
Game One – Chowan 5, Barton 2
The Hawks' Aza Mizell (Washington, N.C.) finished with three hits and three runs batted in while Makenzi Curry (Wilmington, N.C.) earned the complete game victory to lead Chowan to the win.
Curry (6-6) allowed just two runs while striking out a pair of batters in the victpry.

Elana Griffin (Nashville, N.C.) had a pair of hits and an RBI single but freshman
Haley Inman (Stokesdale, N.C.) fell to 6-9 with setback.
Game Two – Chowan 5, Barton 2
Curry game through with the game-winning, two-run single as part of a four-run fifth inning as the Hawks completed the sweep of the Bulldogs.
For Barton, junior outfielder
Makenzie Burroughs (Morehead City, N.C.) drove in both runs but sophomore
Emily Bobo (Mount Ephraim, N.J.) (6-9) took the loss despite going the distance.
Chowan's Abby Rutledge (Middleburg, Fla.) pitched three scoreless innings in relief while striking out three batters to improve to 7-2 on the year.
Barton returns home to take on Francis Marion in a Conference Carolinas doubleheader on Friday afternoon starting at 1:00 p.m. Chowan, meanwhile, faces league-foe Ferrum in a doubleheader at home on Friday beginning at 2:00 p.m.
