WILSON, N.C. – The Barton flag football team (1-0), in its program debut, defeated Virginia Wesleyan (0-3) by a eye-popping score of 120-0 Saturday afternoon at Electric Supply Company Field and Truist Stadium.

Sawyer Rigdon (Wilmington, N.C.) passed for 552 yards and 15 touchdowns in a rousing debut as the game was never really in doubt.
Barton led 32-0 after the first quarter and 68-0 at the intermission while holding a 596-171 advantage in total yards.

Valerie-Ange Batta (Durham, N.C.) total five touchdowns – three on receptions, two on interceptions – and picked off six total passes.
The Bulldogs' top wideout was freshman
Saron Merid (Charlotte, N.C.), who caught eight passes for 192 yards for three scores while freshman
Deija Reed (Raleigh, N.C.) totaled four touchdown receptions as well.
Barton remains at home to host rival Mount Olive in its Conference Carolinas opener on Friday, March 6, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Virginia Wesleyan, meanwhile, hosts Chowan on Saturday, March 21, at 5:00 p.m.
