WILSON, N.C. – The Barton softball team (12-10) swept Elizabeth City State (1-12), 10-2 and 2-0, Sunday afternoon at Jeffries Field.

Makenzie Burroughs (Morehead City, N.C.) had a two-run double to key a five-run first inning while junior second baseman
Madison Mercer (Kenly, N.C.) also drove in two runs including the game-winning, walk-off RBI single in the fifth frame as the Bulldogs run-ruled the Vikings.
Barton senior pitcher
Kierstin Cooper (Nashville, N.C.) improved to 7-6 after throwing the complete game while striking out six batters in the victory. Elizabeth City State's Reagan Seelye (Elmira, N.Y.) (0-6) was tagged with the loss.
Game Two – Barton 2, Elizabeth City State 0

Gracelyn Massey (Princeton, N.C.) broke a scoreless tie with the game-winning RBI double in the bottom of the sixth inning while sophomore
Ali Bunch (Wilmington, N.C.) also drove in an insurance run in the frame as the Bulldogs swept the Vikings.
Bunch (1-1) picked up her first victory of the season with the complete game shutout as well. Bunch scattered eight hits while striking out seven batters in the contest. Camdyn Peck (Leonardtown, Md.) (0-4) suffered the loss for Elizabeth City State.
Barton remains at home to take on Francis Marion in a Conference Carolinas doubleheader Wednesday beginning at 1:00 p.m., while Elizabeth City State hosts Winston-Salem State on Saturday in a doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m.
