WILSON, N.C. – The Barton softball team (16-14, 4-6) swept Young Harris (12-14, 4-4), 3-2 and 10-1, on Senior Day in a Conference Carolinas doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at Jeffries Field.
Game One – Barton 3, Young Harris 2

Gracelyn Massey (Princeton, N.C.) hit her team-leading third home run of the season as the Bulldogs were able to hold on for the victory.
Trailing by a 3-0 score, the Mountain Lions cut the deficit to a single run thanks to two-run home run by Shelby Duncan (Concord, Ga.) in the top of the sixth inning but Barton senior
Kierstin Cooper (Nashville, N.C.) (9-8) was able to pick up the complete game victory. Cooper allowed just three hits while striking out five batters.
The Mountain Lions' Isabella Pecorilli (Gray, Ga.) (1-5) was tagged with the loss.
Game Two – Barton 10, Young Harris 1 (five innings)
The Bulldogs broke the contest open with a seven-run second inning highlighted by a two-run double from senior third baseman
Mary Lindsey Harris (Robersonville, N.C.) as Barton run-ruled Young Harris.

Makenzie Cyzick (Dayton, Va.) and sophomore pitcher
Ali Bunch (Wilmington, N.C.) also drove in two runs each while Bunch (3-2) picked up the win on the mound. Bunch allowed just one run over five innings in addition to three strikeouts.
Young Harris' Grace Young (Snellville, Ga.) (6-3) suffered the loss.
Barton travels to Mount Olive, N.C., to face rival Mount Olive on Wednesday in a conference doubleheader beginning at 3:00 p.m., while Young Harris plays Mount Olive on Sunday in a doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m.
