WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's tennis team (5-7, 2-0) defeated Francis Marion (3-4, 1-1) by a 6-1 score Tuesday afternoon at the Michalak Tennis Complex in a Conference Carolinas contest.
Barton had five players – seniors
Tilde Howeler (Stockholm, SWEDEN) and
Silvia Fernandez-Trabadelo (Mataro, SPAIN), juniors
Irma Granstam (Linkoping, SWEDEN) and
Alexandra Saez Lozano (Begur, SPAIN) and sophomore
Ruya Mavi (Huddinge, SWEDEN) – earn victories at singles and doubles as the Bulldogs won their third straight match.
At second doubles, Saez Lozano and Fernandez-Trabadelo won for the fourth straight time with a 6-4 triumph over the Patriots' Fátima Hernández Huerta (Morelia, MEXICO) and Sophia Hansen (London, ENGLAND).
Howeler and Granstam also improved to 7-2 on the year at No. 1 doubles.
Barton travels to Belmont, N.C., to take on Belmont Abbey on Friday in a league contest starting at 2:00 p.m., while Francis Marion hosts Erskine Friday at 1:00 p.m.
