WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's and women's swimming teams opened the home portion of its schedule Saturday afternoon in a dual meet against Chowan at the Foundation YMCA of Wilson.
The Bulldogs' women's team won over the Hawks by a score of 117-71 while the Barton men's squad fell to Chowan, 102-99.
Barton senior
Cali Younker (Blaine, Tenn.) led the way with first-place finishes in the women's 200-yard freestyle (2:07.22) and 100-yard freestyle (56.22) and was part of the winning 200-yard freestyle (1:43.97) and 200-yard medley (1:54.18) relays.
Freshman
Kristina Chudikova (Bratislava, SLOVAKIA) also won a pair of races – the women's 100-yard butterfly (1:01.85) and women's 50-yard freestyle (25.34) – and was part of both relay winning squads for the Bulldogs.
On the men's side, the Bulldogs won the 200-yard medley relay (1:38.16) while senior
Ethan Koekemoer (Durban, SOUTH AFRICA) placed first in the 200-yard backstroke (2:09.81) and men's 100-yard backstroke (57.84). Koekemoer swam the first leg of the winning relay.
Barton returns to the pool on Monday, November 24, when the Bulldogs travel to Bristol, Tenn., to compete in the King Invitational at the Kingsport Aquatic Center.
