ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The Barton men's and women's swimming teams celebrated Senior Day in style with a sweep of Chowan Saturday afternoon at the Harrison Family YMCA.
The men's squad won by a 150-78 score while the women's squad for the Bulldogs prevailed over the Hawks by a score of 157-46.
In the men's competition, the Bulldogs were led by junior
Natan Alexandre (Sao Paulo, BRAZIL) with a pair of victories in the 100-yard (59.37) and 200-yard breaststrokes (2:16.05).
Alexandre was also part of Barton's first-place 200-yard medley relay (1:38.21). The quartet also included sophomore
Ryan Mcanallen (Saint Augustine, Fla.), senior
Owen Rasinske (Hillsborough, N.C.) and junior
Ethan Robinson (Dacula, Ga.).
Mcanallen took first in the men's 100-yard backstroke (55.50) while Robinson won the men's 50-yard freestyle (22.63) and Rasinske touched the wall first in the men's 200-freestyle (1:47.62).
On the women's side, Barton graduate student
Megan Schueller (La Plata, Md.) with three victories: 100-yard breaststroke (1:10.88), 50-yard freestyle (25.87) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:41.07). Schueller was also part of a Bulldogs' winning relay: the 200-yard medley (1:54.08).
In addition, senior
Cristal Perdomo (Fredericksburg, Va.) was part of both winning relays for the Bulldogs as well and placed first in the women's 200-yard butterfly (2:28.38) and 100-yard butterfly (1:02.58).
The Barton men's and women's swimming teams are next scheduled to compete in the 2025 Conference Carolinas Championships beginning on Wednesday, February 19, at the Triangle Aquatic Center in Cary, N.C.
