MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Barton men's and women's swimming teams kicked off the 2024-25 campaign at Chowan University's Tri-Meet Sunday afternoon at the Bynum Brown Aquatic Center.
The Bulldogs' women's squad won over the Hawks by a 147-56 score before falling to UNC Pembroke (169-70). Chowan and Barton finished in a 105-all tie in the men's dual meet.
On the women's side, the Bulldogs were led by seniors
Isabella Germosen (Clearwater, Fla.) and
Megan Schueller (La Plata, Md.). Germosen won the 50-meter backstroke (30.62) while Schueller touched the line first in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:16.60).
Both swimmers were also part of the Bulldogs' winning 200-meter medley relay squad. The quartet of Germosen, Schueller, senior
Cristal Perdomo (Fredericksburg, Va.) and junior
Cali Younker (Blaine, Tenn.) took first place with a time of 2:07.
In the men's competition, Barton junior
Natan Alexandre (Sao Paulo, BRAZIL) and sophomore
Ryan Mcanallen (Saint Augustine, Fla.) both won a pair of races: Alexandre in the 50-meter (30.16) and 100-meter (1:06.76) breaststrokes and Mcanallen in the 50-meter (28.12) and 100-meter (1:01.31) backstrokes.
Finally, sophomore
Dalton Sawyer (Lawton, Okla.) finished first in the men's 100-meter butterfly (1:03.05) for the Bulldogs.
Barton next competes in the Pirate Duels next Saturday, October 5, at 1:00 p.m., on the campus of East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C.
