YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The Barton women's tennis team (15-3, 8-1) clinched at least a share of the 2023-24 Conference Carolinas Regular Season Championship with a 4-3 win over Young Harris (11-11, 5-4) Monday morning at the Berry Center.
The Bulldogs, who share the title this season with Erskine and Lees-McRae, won their first league regular season title since 2003-04.
Barton swept all three doubles matches to gain the point while junior
Silvia Fernandez-Trabadelo (Mataro ,SPAIN) led the Bulldogs with victories at second singles and first doubles over the Mountain Lions.
Meanwhile, Barton junior
Tilde Howeler (Stockholm, SWEDEN) and sophomore
Irma Granstam (Linkoping, SWEDEN) improved to 15-1 at first doubles this year including a perfect 9-0 mark in conference play.
Barton and Young Harris will next compete in the 2024 Conference Carolinas Women's Tennis Championship which is set to begin on Thursday, April 25, at the Palmetto Tennis Center.
