YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The Barton men's tennis team (8-9, 5-3) was defeated by Young Harris (12-7, 8-0) by a 5-2 score in a Conference Carolinas match and the regular season finale at the Berry Center on Monday morning.
With the victory, the Mountain Lions claimed the league's regular season championship and earned the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament.
Despite the loss, Barton junior
Johan Holgersson (Bromma, SWEDEN) earned victories in singles and doubles play to lead the visitors. Holgersson is 9-1 in singles action including a 7-0 record in conference play.
Barton will be the fifth seed in the 2024 Conference Carolinas Championship and will take on eighth-seeded Lees-McRae (7-12) on Friday at 8:30 a.m., at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, S.C. Top-seeded Young Harris will play in the semifinals on Saturday at 9:00 a.m.
