WILSON, N.C. – The Barton softball team (16-14) swept Winston-Salem State (3-18), 9-0 and 13-3, on Senior Day Saturday afternoon at Jeffries Field.
Game One – Barton 9, Winston-Salem State 0 (five innings)

Miranda Holmes (Godwin, N.C.) threw a perfect game to lead the Bulldogs to the run-ruled victory. Holmes struck out 13 batters while improving to 12-5 on the season.

Mary Lindsey Harris (Robersonville, N.C.) ended the game in the bottom of the fifth inning with a three-run home run while junior designated player
Gracelyn Massey (Princeton, N.C.) added three hits and two RBI in the triumph.
Winston-Salem State's BreAnna Steele (Laurinburg, N.C.) fell to 2-8 after taking the loss.
Game Two – Barton 13, Winston-Salem State 3 (five innings)
Massey hit a three-run home run while graduate student third baseman
Shelby Shepherd (Colorado Springs, Colo.) added a two-run round-tripper in the first frame as the Bulldogs run-ruled the Rams for the second straight contest.
Massey finished with four runs batted in and now leads the team in batting average (.464), home runs (eight) and runs batted in (38) this season. Massey (1-0) also pitched a scoreless inning in relief to earn the win.
For Winston-Salem State, Alea'ah Graham (Fayetteville, N.C.) had an RBI double but Alicia Carrington (New Bern, N.C.) (0-3) took the loss.
Barton returns to Conference Carolinas play on Tuesday when the Bulldogs host Francis Marion at 1:00 p.m., in a doubleheader while Winston-Salem State hosts Fayetteville State on Friday in a 1:00 p.m., doubleheader.
