WILSON, N.C. – The Barton College softball team (13-13, 4-2) split a Conference Carolinas doubleheader with Mount Olive (22-9, 3-3) on Tuesday afternoon at Jeffries Field. The Bulldogs won the first contest by a 2-0 score while the Trojans took care of the home team in the nightcap, 14-3.

Miranda Holmes (Godwin, N.C.) improved to 10-5 on the year after throwing a two-hit, 10-strikeout shutout. Holmes, the school's all-time leader in single-season strikeouts (156), notched her sixth shutout of the year.

Kierstin Cooper (Nashville, N.C.) drove in runs for the Bulldogs while Hannah Killough (Pageland, S.C.) (7-5) was tagged with the loss despite going the distance.
Game Two – Mount Olive 14, Barton 3
The Trojans' Carly Curcio (Allamuchy, N.J.) hit a pair of two-run home runs while Kylie Emanuele (Corona, Calif.) added a solo shot as Mount Olive rolled to the win and salvaged the split.
Mount Olive's Callie Thornton (Faison, N.C.) improved to 10-1 on the season after earning the complete game win while Barton freshman
Kerrigan Wonder (Omaha, Neb.) (0-4) was tagged with the loss. Barton senior outfielder
Kandyce Condrey (High Point, N.C.) had an RBI single for the Bulldogs in the first inning.
Barton next travels to Banner Elk, N.C., to take on Lees-McRae on Saturday in a league doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m., Mount Olive hosts King in a conference doubleheader on Saturday starting at Noon.
