ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The Barton men's and women's swimming teams swept Chowan in a dual meet Saturday as part of Senior Day at the Harrison Family YMCA.
The Bulldogs' men's team prevailed by a 166-91 score over the Hawks while the women's squad won, 186-62.
On the men's side, the Bulldogs were led by senior
Ethan Maddrey (Sims, N.C.). Maddrey won the 200-yard (1:44.41) and 100-yard (47.55) freestyle races and was part of the first-place 200-yard freestyle relay (1:27.22).
Maddrey was joined on the relay squad by sophomore
Ethan Robinson (Dacula, Ga.), junior
Owen Rasinske (Hillsborough, N.C.) and freshman
Ryan Mcanallen (Saint Augustine, Fla.). Mcanallen also took first place in the men's 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:58.88.
In the women's competition, senior
Megan Schueller (La Plata, Md.) won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.37) and 50-yard freestyle (25.37) and led off the first-place 200-yard freestyle relay (1:44.25) for the Bulldogs.
The Barton women's squad also won the 400-yard medley relay (4:13.04) while senior
Alexis Lakey (Silver Spring, Md.) and sophomore
Ava Commer (Anthem, Ariz.) were part of both relay squads. Lakey also placed first in the women's 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:19.53.
Barton junior
Cristal Perdomo (Fredericksburg, Va.) won two individual events as well: the women's 200-yard backstroke (2:19.33) and the women's 200-yard individual medley (2:21.22). In addition, Perdomo swam the first leg of the women's 400-yard medley relay for the Bulldogs.
The Barton swimming teams are back in action next Saturday, January 27, against Wingate at 2:00 p.m., in Wingate, N.C., at the Wingate University Natatorium.
