MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Barton softball team (16-16, 7-5) swept a Conference Carolinas doubleheader from Chowan (15-18, 2-10), 11-1 and 3-1, Sunday afternoon at Hawks Field. The Bulldogs have now won four straight contests.
Game One – Barton 11, Chowan 1 (five innings)

Miranda Holmes (Godwin, N.C.) (3-4) allowed just two hits while striking out nine batters as the Bulldogs run-ruled the Hawks while freshman outfielder
Makenzie Cyzick (Dayton, Va.) finished with three hits and a two-run triple to lead the visitors.
The Bulldogs broke the contest open with a five-run third inning while Haileigh Boone (Anson County, N.C.) fell to 6-7 after taking the loss.
Game Two – Barton 3, Chowan 1

Rilee Jones (Norfolk, Va.) (5-4) came on in relief to earn the win and help the Bulldogs sweep the Hawks. Jones allowed just one run over five innings of work while striking out eight batters.
Barton senior second baseman
Emily Bell (Bunn, N.C.) finished with two hits and drove in the game-winning run in the top of the fifth inning to break a one-all tie. Chowan's Bailey Wilcox (Port Republic, Md.) fell to 7-10 after taking the setback.
Barton remains on the road to take on Francis Marion on Wednesday in Florence, S.C., in a doubleheader beginning at 4:00 p.m., while Chowan faces Mount Olive on the road Wednesday in a doubleheader starting at 5:00 p.m.
