SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Barton men's tennis team (9-9, 6-2) ended the regular season on a high note with a 4-2 victory over Converse (5-15, 2-8) Sunday morning at Valkyries Courts in a Conference Carolinas contest.
The Bulldogs suffered a 2-1 loss in doubles play to the Valkyries to lose the point but rallied with four victories in singles action to take the win.
Barton was led by
Guillem Busquets Brau (Sabadell, SPAIN) with victories at fourth singles and second doubles.
In addition, Barton freshman
Deni Furtado Brlenic's (Alvsjo, SWEDEN) 6-3, 6-0 victory over Converse's Marty Letessier (Limoux, FRANCE) at No. 5 singles made him 7-1 in singles action against league foes this season.
Barton will be the third seed in the 2023 Conference Carolinas Championship and will take winner of sixth-seeded Mount Olive (10-9, 4-4) and seventh-seeded Converse (6-13, 4-5) on Friday at 4:00 p.m., in the quarterfinal round at the Dr. Eddie Floyd Tennis Center in Florence, S.C.
