FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Barton women's tennis team (1-5) earned its first victory of the year with a 9-0 sweep over Methodist (0-1) Wednesday afternoon at the Gene Clayton Center.
Five players for the Bulldogs – sophomoress
Tilde Howeler (Stockholm, SWEDEN),
Silvia Fernandez-Trabadelo (Mataro, SPAIN) and
Maren Kronsbein (Ellerau, GERMANY) and freshmen
Irma Granstam (Linkoping, SWEDEN) and
Alexandra Saez Lozano (Begur, SPAIN) – all won at singles and doubles to lead the visitors.
On the season, Howeler and Granstam is 3-0 at first doubles for Barton.
Barton will next compete in the Professional Tennis Registry's Spring Tennis Fest in Hilton Head Island, S.C., beginning on Sunday, March 5, while Methodist hosts Piedmont Sunday at Noon.
