ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The Barton men's and women's swimming teams swept a dual meet from Converse Saturday afternoon at the Harrison Family YMCA.
On the men's side, the Bulldogs took care of the Valkyries by a 185-70 score while the women's team held off the visitors, 130-124.
Barton was led by freshman
Ryan Mcanallen (Saint Augustine, Fla.), who won both the men's 100-yard (53.96) and 200-yard (1:58.25) backstrokes and was part of the Bulldogs' first-place 400-yard freestyle (3:13.47) and 400-yard medley (3:38.14) relays.
Barton senior
Ethan Maddrey (Sims, N.C.) took first in the men's 100-yard (48.01) and 200-yard (1:44.84) freestyle events and was part of the men's 400-yard freestyle relay as well. Barton sophomore
Evan Carlson (Cary, N.C.) won two individual events – the men's 100-yard (53.23) and men's 200-yard (2:05.54) butterfly – and was on the winning 400-yard medley relay squad.
Barton senior
Roman Martinez (Willow Spring, N.C.) took care of the distance events with victories in the men's 500-yard (5:00.07) and 1,000-yard (10:23.51) freestyle races while sophomore
Dominic Edl (Bluffton, S.C.) touched the line first in the men's 200-yard breaststroke (2:22.26) and the men's 400-yard IM (4:31.10).
Finally, sophomore
Ethan Robinson (Dacula, Ga.) was part of both winning relays for the Bulldogs and took first in the men's 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.90.
In the women's competition, the Bulldogs were spearheaded by junior
Cristal Perdomo (Fredericksburg, Va.). Perdomo won the women's 100-yard (1:04.15) and 200-yard (2:18.87) backstrokes and the 400-yard individual medley (5:10.82). In addition, senior
Megan Schueller (La Plata, Md.) placed first in the women's 50-yard (24.81) and 100-yard (56.21) freestyle events for Barton.
Barton next competes at UNC Pembroke's Tri-Meet on Saturday, November 11, at 4:00 p.m., in Pembroke, N.C.
