BRISTOL, Tenn. – The Barton men's tennis team (17-7, 8-2), ranked No. 25 in NCAA Division II, wrapped up second place in the Conference Carolinas regular season standings with a 6-1 win over King (4-12, 1-9) Saturday afternoon at the Tornado Complex.
A quartet of Bulldogs – freshmen
Kristoffer Staahlbrand (Oslo, NORWAY),
Hannes Tylehed (Stockholm, SWEDEN) and
Johan Holgersson (Bromma, SWEDEN) and senior
Diego Agudelo (Bogota, COLOMBIA) – all won at singles and doubles as Barton closed the regular season with seven straight victories.
Staalhbrand has won seven straight matches at No. 1 singles while the duo of Tylehed and Holgersson has earned six consecutive victories at doubles for the Bulldogs.
Barton is the second seed in the 2022 Conference Carolinas Championship and will next compete in the semifinals of the league tournament on Saurday at 9:00 a.m., at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, S.C.
