WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's tennis team (3-3) defeated West Virginia Wesleyan (6-2) Sunday morning by a 6-1 score at the Bulldogs Complex.
Barton was led by four players who earned victories at both single and doubles action: senior
Isabella Caballero (La Paz, BOLIVIA) and freshmen
Tilde Howeler (Stockholm, SWEDEN),
Maren Kronsbein (Ellerau, GERMANY) and Silvia Fernandez-Trabedelo (Barcelona, SPAIN).
Kronsbein and Howeler teamed up at second doubles to defeat the Bobcats' Sai Sakamoto (Tokyo, JAPAN) and Cayley Symons (Johannesburg, SOUTH AFRICA) by a 6-1 score.
Barton opens Conference Carolinas play on Saturday, March 19, against Mount Olive in Mount Olive, N.C., beginning at Noon while West Virginia Wesleyan takes on Francis Marion in Florence, S.C., on Monday beginning at 3:00 p.m.
