WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's tennis team (4-5) won its second straight match with a 5-2 triumph over West Virginia Wesleyan (5-2) Sunday morning at the Bulldogs' complex.
Barton was led by freshmen
Kristoffer Staahlbrand (Oslo, NORWAY),
Hannes Tylehed (Stockholm, SWEDEN) and
Johan Holgersson (Bromma, SWEDEN). All three players won in singles and doubles' competition on the day.
Tylehed and Hoglersson prevailed at third doubles over the Bobcats' Anthony McIntosh (Charleston, W.Va.) and Nicolas Zumba (Machala, ECUADOR) by a 6-3 score to give the Bulldogs the point at doubles. Meanwhile, Staahlbrand has a 4-2 record this season at No. 1 singles for Barton.
Barton opens Conference Carolinas play on Saturday, March 19, when the Bulldogs travel to Mount Olive, N.C., to take on Mount Olive beginning at Noon while West Virginia Wesleyan takes on Francis Marion in Florence, S.C., on Monday at 3:00 p.m.
