WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's tennis team (6-8) won its third consecutive match with a 5-2 triumph over Shaw (7-3) Tuesday afternoon at the Bulldogs' complex.
The Bulldogs' top three players in singles action, respectively – freshmen
Maren Kronsbein (Ellerau, GERMANY),
Tilde Howeler (Stockholm, SWEDEN) and
Silvia Fernandez-Trabadelo (Barcelona, SPAIN) – all won at singles and doubles to lead the Bulldogs to the win.
Kronsbein and Fernandez-Trabadelo teamed at first doubles to prevail over Shaw's Dana Moreno (Poroia-Entre Rios, ARGENTINA) and Michelle Blaha (Entre Rios, ARGENTINA) by a score of 6-1.
Barton returns to Conference Carolinas play on Friday when the Bulldogs face Emmanuel (Ga.) in Franklin Springs, Ga., beginning at 2:00 p.m., while Shaw takes on Elon on the road on Thursday at 5:00 p.m.
